Hi guys, today I conducted my first time psychological experiment!
It feels awesome, even though it seems not really special or interesting enough if compared to other psychologists' experiment.
My experiment is about how the gender of others affect individuals' cognitive performance.
Even though the hypothesis of our experiment is not suggested, there are still unexpected finding inside the result. However, I am glad to conduct my first psychological experiment after studying first year.
In first year, it doesn't really bring the strong sense of psychology instead of immersing myself in the sea of theories and knowledge. At the beginning of year 2, it is when I start to practice what I have learnt so far.
Besides, I am also proposing other psychology experiment. Nonetheless, this proposed experiment may not be conducted in the end as this is not required in the course outline. I may try to ask for permission from the Ethics Review Board (authorities who permitted our psychology experiment whether it is ethical or not) to run this experiment, as it is quite important to our national unity. This proposed experiment is about whether the type of school will affect the racial acceptance among the students. After studying several journals and articles, it is rumored that National Type School (SJK(C)) is the obstacle for national unity as it keeps races separated from others due to its medium of instruction.
One of the problems in our education will be the parallel school typing system, in which our races are separated from each other. For instance, Chinese parent will normally send their children to National Type School instead of National School. Kids have no chance to mix with other ethnic group and interact with them in the same learning environment, this will increase the ethnic boundary between the races. That's why this sparks the idea in my head to run this experiment, to reveal the truth behind the issue. OMG! Can't wait the day I get the permission to run this experiment! If I can, I must SEND THE RESULT TO THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, WAKAKAKAKAKA!
Haha, nothing serious, just share with you all, what is going on with my university life. I am now going to do research and learn research method, which is quite tough in short semester, it is intensive when rushing assignment and lab report, which we normally do as university students!
All in all, may you enjoy your university life. Take care and don't give up! All the best!
Regards,
Gary
